East Jackson Comprehensive High School and Jackson County High School have earned the distinction as Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools following a release by the Georgia Department of Education on Tuesday. The 2024 AP Honor Schools are placed into eight categories based on the results from the 2023 AP courses and exams.
JEFFERSON- The Empower College and Career Center received three large donations from local industry leaders this week.
The donations were made by Solmax, formerly known as Tencate, Vulcan Materials and Takeuchi during recent Jackson County Board of Education meetings, and on Tuesday morning at Empower.
The Jackson County School System saw an increase in scores from the End of Grade testing conducted at the conclusion of the 2022-23 school year. The State of Georgia released the scores Friday.
Students take Georgia Milestones End of Grade tests in grades three through eight and End of Course tests in four high school courses.
School and district-leaders from within the Jackson County School System visited local industry leaders from Jackson County during a leadership retreat on Friday, June 9.
The retreat started Friday morning with 74 leaders visiting six industrial leaders. The goal of the retreat was for leaders to gain a better understanding of the industry located in Jackson County and the opportunities that are available after graduation for the over 10,000 students within the Jackson County School System.
Justin Mewborn has been approved as the new assistant principal of the Empower College and Career Center. Mewborn is currently an assistant administrator at Vickery Creek Middle School.
Mewborn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grades Education from Reinhardt University, a Masters of Arts in Teaching and Learning and an Educational Specialists Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. He also holds an Educational Leadership Certification from Kennesaw State University.
